52 in 52 Update: August

We're at the halfway point, and I am not doing well. I last updated on July 12, 2013. You can view the full list here.

1. Blog at least twice a week. I didn't accomplish this.

2. My Hubby Rocks posts each Sunday. I'm taking a pause on this link up for a few months, read why here.

3. 52 in 52 updates once a month (6/12 )

4. Post Desire to Inspire posts once a month. Also taking a break from this, see number 2.

5. "Little Miss Natalie" posts twice a month. Here and here. (5/12)

13. Lose all baby weight (starting weight: 210) (current weight: 214)  I am going to be starting my weight loss program on September 1st. My bestie's husband made me a workout plan, and I am officially swearing off soda again, because I have gained two pounds since I was weighed at my post partum appointment.

6. Rename all photos, organize, and delete duplicates. Still in progress.

24. Get a meal planning system going. We have been doing really well with eating at home, but still don't have an actual schedule yet. We haven't had the money to go grocery shopping all in one trip, so are having to go every few days and eat cheap.

30. Update baby book monthly. I haven't really been doing this much. But not much has changed.

38. Montly update shots of Cameron. Month one is done. See it here.

45. Have a set bedtime and wakeup time and stick to it, even on weekends. I've downloaded an app that is supposed to help me with this. I started using it this week, so we will see how it goes.

49. Read 25 books. (2/25) Read: Fifty Shades Darker. Currently: (still waiting on) Fifty Shades Freed.

That's it for now! September is going to be the month of gym time! I hope I can fit it in to my already hectic schedule. I'm going to be looking to my hubby for help with this!

52 in 52 Update: July

I last updated on June 14, 2013. You can view the full list here.

1. Blog at least twice a week. Done.
2. My Hubby Rocks posts each Sunday. Done. Go here to view them.
3. 52 in 52 updates once a month (5/12 )
4. Post Desire to Inspire posts once a month. Here (5/12)
5. "Little Miss Natalie" posts twice a month. I missed out on this. Something about being pregnant, being in labor, and having a newborn? (4/12)

13. Lose all baby weight (starting weight: 210) (current weight: 212) This is going to be easy, it feels like cheating! But I guess it's also good because it means that I did a good job not gaining a whole bunch of weight while pregnant.

6. Rename all photos, organize, and delete duplicates. Still in progress.
24. Get a meal planning system going. We have a menu planned by week for five weeks, and hopefully will be able to start in a week or two. I'm thinking about writing about our meal plans/recipes, but not sure if anyone would be interested.

30. Update baby book monthly. I received a baby book for Cameron from Hallmark that I actually like better than the one I have for Natalie. I'm planning on purchasing one for Natalie soon.
31. Throw/host a Wizard of Oz themed 2nd birthday party. We are doing a little party and decided to do Bubble Guppies instead since Natalie is currently OBSESSED. Completed (?) 7/14/13
32. Finish 0-6 month scrapbook. Still haven't done anything with this one. All of her stuff is currently packed away and I don't have the time or energy to do this right now, so I am taking this one off of the active goals for a while.
37. Bump shots weekly starting at 18 weeks. Completed 7/3/13 I've totally failed at this. I got a few more, but no where near weekly. I should have enough to put into his scrapbook, and I am no longer pregnant, so this one is as complete as it gets.
38. Montly update shots of Cameron. This will start on 8/3/13 with month one!
39. Buy a second crib/bassinet or toddler bed for Natalie. Completed 6/16/13!

45. Have a set bedtime and wakeup time and stick to it, even on weekends. I've got weekdays down pretty good, and with the baby I think this is going to get easier because I have agreed to do all 6-7am feedings, so it is enough to wake me up and keep me up. (for the most part)

49. Read 25 books. (2/25) Read: Fifty Shades Darker. Currently: (waiting on) Fifty Shades Freed.

50. Buy a pool this summer. Not sure if we are going to still buy this or not. Hoping to, but we will see.

That's it for now! August is going to be a busy month for the start of about 10 of my goals, but I am excited to get back on the weight loss wagon! I can't wait to get back in the gym and turn into the hot mama I wanna be! Next update will be August 9th!

Until later, lovebugs!

52 in 52 Update: June

I last updated on May 11, 2013. You can view the full list here.

1. Blog at least twice a week. I think I accomplished this again.
2. My Hubby Rocks posts each Sunday. Go here to view them.
3. 52 in 52 updates once a month (4/12 )
4. Post Desire to Inspire posts once a month. Here and here (4/12)
5. "Little Miss Natalie" posts twice a month. Here and here (4/12)

6. Rename all photos, organize, and delete duplicates. I've been working on this one a little bit more. I have them all in folders by year. Now I just have to go through each folder and re-name and delete.
24. Get a meal planning system going. We've been getting better, but still don't have a full operational system going yet. I think this will happen soon, we plan on going grocery shopping in a week or two.

30. Update baby book monthly. Ha. I'll get to it eventually. I saw the book the other day and said to myself "I really need to do that before Cameron gets here and I REALLY don't have the time."
32. Finish 0-6 month scrapbook. Haven't touched it. Hopefully will have some time soon.
37. Bump shots weekly starting at 18 weeks.
I've been horrible at this. In fact I've pretty much stopped. I really should make sure to take them these last few weeks, especially since I never got this far with Natalie.

45. Have a set bedtime and wakeup time and stick to it, even on weekends. I've got weekdays down pretty good, just need to stop sleeping in on weekends. Still haven't gotten any better.

49. Read 25 books. (2/25) Read: Fifty Shades Darker. Currently: Fifty Shades Freed.

50. Buy a pool this summer. Does a baby pool count? If so, working on it!

That's it for now! Looks like good progress for being an 8 month preggo mama. My next update will be July 12!

Until later, lovebugs!

Re-evaluating and adjusting

Since I started my new 52 in 52 list I haven't really done much with it. And now, with coming back to blogging, a lot of things have changed and a lot of the goals are no longer relevant. While I don't necessarily want to start over (because I do that ALL the time - seriously, I think I re-vamped my 1,001 list 3 times in the three years) I really feel like this time, I need to.

A lot of my goals are going to remain the same, and some I won't even be starting until the baby is born, but I feel like I won't have enough time to finish most of the goals that I had set, so I feel more comfortable starting over.

If you would like to see my list and cheer me on, click here!

Until later, lovebugs!

52 in 52: A Recap & A Fresh Start

I've been meaning to write about my first 52 in 52 experiment, but just haven't had the time, and with my computer being down it makes it even harder to get things done.

But, I am going to do it anyway! The final day on my Project was May 15, 2012. I have to say I am not impressed with my turnout, (15 out of 52 complete) however I think the main reason is because a lot of the goals I just couldn't accomplish last year with a newborn taking up most of my time. So, I have taken that into account and have adjusted accordingly.

I'm going to be starting a new list soon. I've had some things happen in life that changed my original list, so as soon as I have it completed and ready to go I will post about it!

52 in 52 Update: Week 42

I last updated on March 13th. To view that post click here. To view my list, and the "rules" if you'd like to start your own list, click here.

#47 - Complete the World's Longest Sodoku Puzzle. Still in progress.

#24 - Complete my recipe book. Still trying to decide which way I want to do this. Leaning towards the binder again.

#1 - Rename all photos, organize and delete duplicates. I've worked on this a little bit, but not as much as I like, and I don't have alot of time right now.

#2 - Scan old photos. Still haven't started it yet.

#44 - Get a budget plan together and stick to it. Well we are caught up on bills finally, so I should be able to get this started soon I think.

#33 - Create family wall in living room. Still planning.

#11 - Complete the Couch to 5k Program. I have stopped doing this. I prefer to do a 10 minute walking warmup and then run as long as I can before walking again. I may get back to it eventually.

#12 - Run 2 5K races. I've had to skip both of these races, because I'm just not ready.

#17 - See 180 lbs on the scale. Currently 209.4. Ugh.

#46 Read 25 books. (5/25) Recently read: Chill by Stephanie Rowe, and Perfect on Paper by Maria Murnane

#9 - Reorganize DVDs. We are planning to rip up the carpet in the living room soon, so when we do that this will be done.

#22 - Cook 12 new recipes. (1/12) None yet but I have a few in mind.

#34 - Plant my mimosa tree. I'm not going to be planting it this year. Maybe next year.

#35 - Have a yard sale. This will hopefully be happening soon.

#13 - Try yoga for one month. There is a class at my gym that I'm looking into. I've already got a mat and I'm going to give it a shot soon!

#47 - Complete the World's Longest Sodoku Puzzle. Still in progress.

#24 - Complete my recipe book. Still trying to decide which way I want to do this. Leaning towards the binder again.

#1 - Rename all photos, organize and delete duplicates. Haven't touched this lately.

#2 - Scan old photos. I haven't started on this yet, but soon.

#44 - Get a budget plan together and stick to it. Ha! I don't know if I'll ever get to implement this.

#33 - Create family wall in living room. Still in the planning stages.

#11 - Complete the Couch to 5k Program. I am officially on Week 3 Day 2! I'll be posting my stats for each workout in my Waist Watcher Wednesday posts.

#12 - Run 2 5K races. One will be on March 24th, and one will be May 12th.

52 in 52 Update: Week 28

I last updated on January 13. To view that post click here. To view my list, and the "rules" if you'd like to start your own list, click here.

#47 - Complete the World's Longest Sodoku Puzzle. Still working on this, just haven't had time.

#24 - Complete my recipe book. I'm debating about changing my mind on the recipe book again. I can't decide if I want to use a binder or the books my mom got for me. What do you think?

Here are the books and how I've been writing stuff in. (Notice the Pioneer Woman Cookbook? Can't wait till her new one comes out!)

Here's what the inside looks like:

And a close up of the card:

Now these are great don't get me wrong, but when I run out - that's it. They don't make them anymore. So, that 's a potential problem.

But with a binder it'd be so easy to just tear a recipe out of a magazine and pop it in a page protector. Voila! But then I'd feel the need to type and print out all my recipes. I just don't know!

#1 - Rename all photos, organize and delete duplicates. I've been working on this a little, but that's mostly because I've started keeping my blog photos separate, and it is so much easier to organize by dates.

#2 - Scan old photos. I found my old photos, but still haven't even started scanning them in. I really need to get started. Eventually I'll have to do Mom's and Hubby's mom's too.

#44 - Get a budget plan together and stick to it. Still in progress. We are almost caught up on ALL of our bills, so a budget should be able to come together pretty easily here soon!

#33 - Create family wall in living room. Still in the planning stages. I'll post more on that soon.

#11 - Complete the Couch to 5k Program. I haven't done much lately, since it's been so cold. I am planning on going to check out a gym once we get our car fixed.

#17 - See 180 lbs on the scale. Still 20 lbs to go!

#42 - Buy the remaining nursery items not received from baby shower. They are in my online cart on Target.com ready to be purchased still. I hope they don't sell out.
A few that I would like to start soon are:

#9 - Reorganize DVDs.
#22 - Cook 12 new recipes.
#28 - Throw a SuperBowl party. This is not happening. I don't even want to WATCH the SuperBowl this year.

So what do you think? Cookbooks or binder? Handwritten or typed?

Who has a good recipe that's man-friendly that I can try for one of my "new recipes"?

Let me know!!

52 in 52 Update: Week 20

Wasn't I supposed to be doing stuff today?? Yeah...blogs sidetracked me again, oh how I love to read about other bloggers and their interesting lives, and be inspired to do good.

The one that got me today was Enjoying the Small Things. Kelle is an inspiring woman and mother. Her daughters are beautiful in every way. With each of her posts I find myself hoping to be HALF as much a wonderful mother to my Natalie as she is to Lainey and Nella. She - is - amazing.

So, I'm going to try and spout this off quickly so I can update you on my goals while the munchkin is napping, so that I can get back to doing what I was SUPPOSED to be doing today before starting to get ready for work.

For my last post about my list, click here.

#1 - Rename all photos, organize and delete duplicates. I still haven't worked on this. I figure I'll get there someday.

#2 - Scan old photos. I found my old photos yesterday, and will start scanning them....sometime.

#11 - Complete the Couch to 5k Program. And Couch to 5k training just busted. My best friend got us tickets to the Jets/Redskins game this Sunday, which is the same day as the race....so no race. I am hoping to start back up when it gets warmer and do a 5k in the spring.

#24 - Complete my recipe book. Haven't touched it since I made my last recipe from it. I'll get to it.

#47 - Complete the World's Longest Sodoku Puzzle. Haven't done any.

#52 - Finish my family binder. Will be finishing this soon. We had some financial things to work out first. Now I will be able to make a budget and get it finished.

#44 - Get a budget plan together and stick to it. See Above.

#23 - Make my rainbow cake for my birthday. Unfortunately I didn't get to make it. Maybe next year, it will have to go on the list.

#49 - Complete our wedding album. Unfortunately I ran out of time picking the 300 photos, and didn't get the discount. But I'll be looking out for more deals and will be taking advantage of something soon!
#43 and #31- Send thank you notes for baby shower, in Christmas cards. I am hoping to get this done and sent out soon, just have to get money together to do it.

#33 - Create family wall in living room. Now that we rearranged our furniture I am ready to start planning this!

#30 - Decorate for Fall, Christmas, and Spring. Currently decorating for Christmas, will post when finished!

I do however have something to cross off!

#4 - Buy a new camera! Mike and I scored this one on Black Friday, courtesy of an early Christmas gift from his nan.

Isn't it beautiful??

52 in 52 Update: Week 16

Here I am again! I am going to have to make this quick because I have to be at work in 30 minutes! Ahh!

For my last update click here.

#1 - I haven't done anything with my photos the past two weeks. I keep remembering and then forgetting.

#11 - Week 3, Day 1 was complete today - I had to take some time off due to an ankle tweak, but I'm back on track and determined to gain ground back!

#24 - I totally went to start working on this last night and ended up on the computer instead. OOPS!

#47 - Still in progress. I found my papers to work on the sodoku puzzles just haven't picked it back up.

#52 - Still in progress with the family binder as well. I will finish it soon, it's almost complete! I am also planning on organizing a "portable office" since we are going to attempt to turn our desk into a hutch/buffet table.

#23 - I will be baking my rainbow cake this weekend! How I'm going to do that without a mixer is beyond me! lol

#49 - My wedding album will hopefull be completed soon because I am ordering the rest of the photos with the snapfish code SPOOKY300 this weekend! I'm excited =)

I think that's it! Pretty much NO progress...man I need to get on the ball! Happy Weekend everyone!

52 in 52 Update

So it's been a while since I've updated on where I am at with my yearly goals, aka my 52 in 52. For my previous post click here.

#1 - Ikinda started flaking on our photos. I got a few folders done in our pets folder, but haven't done much since then. I am determined to get it done before the 52 days is up.

#11 - Ida and I started the program up back on October 11 and we are still going strong! I've made some short posts about our progress here. We will be starting week 3 on Tuesday!

#13 - I tried yoga, and I am going to hold off on this goal until I am in WAYYYYYY better shape. I couldn't even get through the "sun salutation". I have no strength, so I'm going to wait until I do, but from what I WAS able to do, I think I am going to like it =)

#20 - We went to the Baltimore Aquarium this past Wednesday with Hubby's cousin. We had a blast and Natalie did really well being in a strap-on-carrier for the first time! Here are some pics of the trip:

#24 - My recipe book is coming along, although I haven't done much new to it. I lost the pen I was using to write the recipes and the cards are shiny so if the ink isn't right it smears. I have a new pen now.

#29 - This ended up not working out. I didn't have the money that weekend to buy the supplies needed, and the house was a disaster and I was embarrassed. So, no dinner party. Yet.

#36 and #37 - Natalie's three month post was last Saturday - we had such a blast and everyone keeps telling me how professional the photos look! =)

#47 - Still in progress. I haven't done any puzzles in a while. I just haven't had the time or desire.

#52 - Still in progress with the family binder as well. I fully intend on finishing it this month so that I can feel more organized.

There you have it! I wonder where I'll be with this in two weeks....

#7, #10, and #50

Today I wanted to do a catch up on the non-baby things that I have been working on: my 52 in 52 list.

#7 - Fix computer. This is complete because we really don't need to anymore. We have a laptop now (yay for portability) and we really don't need the desktop anymore. We are so set on it, in fact, that we are talking about getting rid of the desk altogether and just getting a file cabinet to set the printer on. It will free up SO much room in the living room for....a pack n play...ah, babies!

#10 - Reorganize and store CD's. I completed my half of this three days ago, and I refuse to even try to organize my hubby's, considering he just added his best friends giveaways to the pile. I will find a central place to put them, but if he wants to organize them, it's up to him.

#50 - Get rid of the turtle. We did this about a week ago, and I felt horrible but at the same time it was the best thing for him, and for us. He was getting too big for his tank, and a bigger one would have been super expensive. Also, adult turtles carry salmonella, and I wasn't going to risk him infecting my little girl. Here is a picture of his "new tank":

Part of us will really miss him, but part of us realized that he really didn't bring anything to the family other than taking up space and being something "cool" to look at. We are more of a cuddly animal type of family!

I also have some progress to report.

#1 - Rename all photos, organize, and delete duplicates.  With having the new laptop, I transferred all of our photos over to the new computer. I plan to work on a folder a day and get as much as I can done to rename all of the photos in each folder. It will probably take me about a month but I am determined to finally get this done.

#29 - Have a couple friends over for dinner two times. The first will be this Saturday! Friends of ours who are getting married in November (the day before my birthday yay!) are coming over to see the house, hold the baby, have dinner and hang out with us! (That was alot of h's wasn't it!?) I am making tacos/chicken fajitas, and they are bringing dessert. I can't wait!! (Now I have to clean the house! AHHHHHH!)

I am also working on what Jen at IHeart Organizing calls a "family binder." I stumbled across her website looking for some calendar pages and household cleaning organization materials, and I loved her website instantly! The binder helps you organize everything from your meal planning to your budget to your coupons and recipes - whatever you like! She has some great PDFs for sale on her etsy website, but unfortunately this Mama is b-r-o-k-e so I will have to design them myself (and they will therefore be MUCH more basic than her awesomely colorful ones!) Once I have it finished I will post photos of the details.

Oh man have I missed you!

Hey there!
Gosh, it's been forever since I had a chance to post on here, and most of it has been internet/computer problems. Apparently, my desktop contracted a virus (sounds like an STD jeez) and would not let us access anything that would need to connect to the internet to work! It is seriously annoying, and still is not fixed. I have so much to catch up on with you!
First I have to catch you up on my pregnancy so far: I am now 26 weeks along in my pregnancy, and for the most part the doctor says I am doing well! The baby is measuring perfect and the heartbeat is steady and strong so everything is good on that front! On the Gestational Diabetes front, things are not as good, but not that horrible either. They have now put me on some meds called Glyburide, and it seems to be helping although my blood sugars are still not where they should be.

Oh and one more thing!!

We had our anatomy scan about a month ago, and we got a really good shot of in between the legs and its most likely (like 98%) a girl!!

We have decided to name her Natalie Elaine Farris =) Here are a few ultrasound pics:

We have picked out a theme for the nursery at Target called Batik Butterfly, it is light green and lavender. So cute! Here is one of the patterns on the sheets in the set:

I love it! My two best friends are each throwing me a shower. Amber will be throwing my work shower on July 20th and Jess will be throwing my family/friends shower on July 31st. Its going to be fun!

We have also decided to hold off on a professional grade camera and buying a nice digital camera instead. We just don't need something that expensive right now. I may still get one someday, but I figure I'm not going to have enough time to figure out how to use a camera like that correctly before the baby gets here and I don't want to take bad photos of my baby girl!

The baby fund saving is going decently, although we have been borrowing from it when we shouldn't have been. As long as it gets paid back I am not worried. But that is the money for my time off, so it is really important. It will come together ok, I know it will.

We have had some recent financial troubles with our car. The ignition switch went bad on it on Mother's Day (HORRIBLE TIMING) and we found out all of the teeth that make an igition turn were dirty and sticking so that our keys wouldn't turn the ignition anymore because the teeth were stuck! So our mechanic cleaned it out and its been working fine ever since, but we had to pay almost $150 bucks to get it fixed, PLUS we didn't have the car for almost FOUR days! It was very inconvienent.

As far as my Day Zero List, I am starting over. I have been having trouble with wanting to revamp my list every six months, so I decided instead of a three-year span, I'm going to do 52 goals in 52 weeks, and start a new one every year. The new goals are posted on the side of my blog (or will be soon - depends on if I have time to get to retyping them today) and I will give you an update on how they are going soon!

I think that's all I really needed to catch up on!

52 Goals in 52 Weeks: 2011 The List

When I started this it was three years ago, and I was doing the Day Zero (1,001 days, 101 goals) but it was just too much, and my goals kept changing. After re-doing my list three times, I decided to start over. Thus, 52/52 began!

If you want to do the challege too, here are the "rules":

1. Everything must be attainable.
2. Everything must have a certain level of difficulty. It can't be TOO easy.
3. Everything must be something you REALLY want to do - otherwise you'll avoid it like the plague.

That's it! Let me know if you decide to play along, so that I can follow your journey!
