Tackle It Tuesday: Old Blog Posts

I'm going to make this short and sweet because I am dealing with a bum hand at the moment, (story for another time) but I just wanted to link up with My Happy House and talk about something I've been working on this week.

I've had a Word document saved full of all of my old posts from my "other blogs" (old ones) and I wanted to add them to this one, as I think it's important to save what I have worked so hard to write since 2009. So, little by little each night while I am waiting on the little girl to stir for her feeding, I have been working on transferring them over. It is no small feat! I have to find and load all the pictures I used over again, and I have had to reword some because I don't have the pictures anymore. But it's coming along and I am almost finished. I think maybe by tomorrow night I will be done, and I can go through and make sure that they are in the right order and that the dates aren't messed up (because I'll be honest - I'm winging it right now!)

That's my tackle it Tuesday!

Saturday didn't go very well. Let's just say it was a female day, and I didn't get out of bed. I got Natalie's laundry done (there's already more) and got her a bath, but that's the extent of Saturday. After bathtime, something crazy happened! She outgrew her first outfit!! I had literally put this outfit on her approximately two weeks ago, and this is what happened:

And here she was wearing that sleeper in the NICU! My baby is growing so fast! WAAAAHH!

That evening I was feeling better and we went to the Green Turtle to watch UFC. Here's some pictures I took of Natalie after I got her ready for going out that evening.

My friend Amber came home with me and stayed the night and helped me with Munchkin throughout the night so I could get some rest. I'm hoping to work on a few of those things today and the rest of this week.

And here she is this morning, in my favorite sleeper she has right now =) I think I will cry the day she grows out of this, and will probably go buy her a bigger one!!

There's my weekend in a nutshell!

#7, #10, and #50

Today I wanted to do a catch up on the non-baby things that I have been working on: my 52 in 52 list.

#7 - Fix computer. This is complete because we really don't need to anymore. We have a laptop now (yay for portability) and we really don't need the desktop anymore. We are so set on it, in fact, that we are talking about getting rid of the desk altogether and just getting a file cabinet to set the printer on. It will free up SO much room in the living room for....a pack n play...ah, babies!

#10 - Reorganize and store CD's. I completed my half of this three days ago, and I refuse to even try to organize my hubby's, considering he just added his best friends giveaways to the pile. I will find a central place to put them, but if he wants to organize them, it's up to him.

#50 - Get rid of the turtle. We did this about a week ago, and I felt horrible but at the same time it was the best thing for him, and for us. He was getting too big for his tank, and a bigger one would have been super expensive. Also, adult turtles carry salmonella, and I wasn't going to risk him infecting my little girl. Here is a picture of his "new tank":

Part of us will really miss him, but part of us realized that he really didn't bring anything to the family other than taking up space and being something "cool" to look at. We are more of a cuddly animal type of family!

I also have some progress to report.

#1 - Rename all photos, organize, and delete duplicates.  With having the new laptop, I transferred all of our photos over to the new computer. I plan to work on a folder a day and get as much as I can done to rename all of the photos in each folder. It will probably take me about a month but I am determined to finally get this done.

#29 - Have a couple friends over for dinner two times. The first will be this Saturday! Friends of ours who are getting married in November (the day before my birthday yay!) are coming over to see the house, hold the baby, have dinner and hang out with us! (That was alot of h's wasn't it!?) I am making tacos/chicken fajitas, and they are bringing dessert. I can't wait!! (Now I have to clean the house! AHHHHHH!)

I am also working on what Jen at IHeart Organizing calls a "family binder." I stumbled across her website looking for some calendar pages and household cleaning organization materials, and I loved her website instantly! The binder helps you organize everything from your meal planning to your budget to your coupons and recipes - whatever you like! She has some great PDFs for sale on her etsy website, but unfortunately this Mama is b-r-o-k-e so I will have to design them myself (and they will therefore be MUCH more basic than her awesomely colorful ones!) Once I have it finished I will post photos of the details.

One Month Old!

Dear Natalie,
I cannot believe you are already one month old! The time has flown by, and it seems like it was only yesterday that I held you in my arms for the first time! You have overcome so many obstacles in this first 31 days of your life and I am SO so proud of you! Mommy is still supposed to be 37 weeks and 6 days pregnant with you, but you just couldn't wait to join us!

When you were born you weighed 4lbs even. At your one week checkup (which you had three days after coming home) you weighed 4 lbs 9.1 oz. Now, at your one month checkup, you were a WHOPPING 5lbs 13oz!!! At birth you were 17 3/4 inches long. At your one week checkup you were 18 1/4 inches long. They didn't measure you at your appointment, but Daddy and I measured you (granted it wasn't as good as when the doctor does it) and you hadn't changed much, if at all.

When you came home from the hospital two weeks ago, you were taking approximately 36 ml of Enfamil Enfacare formula each feeding, every three hours. (Approximately 1 oz) You are now drinking almost 2 oz every 3 hours! You are very good about sleeping until you are hungry, but you still wake up almost right on time! You are a happy little piglette! The only thing you have a little trouble with is burping - you hate it! Sometimes you go through a whole feeding before you will burp, so we will have to work on that.

You are currently wearing newborn sleepers, 0-3 mo onesies, and newborn/preemie sized diapers. Some things are still too big but for the most part you are fitting in them really well for as tiny as you are! Mommy still can't believe how tiny you really are!

Since coming home from the hospital, you have started to have a little bit of congestion in your nose. It's not accompanied by a fever, and it's not affecting your eating or your sleeping so I don't think we have anything to worry about, but I asked your doctor anyway at your one month checkup. He took a listen to your lungs and said you looked good, and he would have told me if there was something wrong, so I think you're ok!

One thing that I can say, is that you LOVE your kitty! You sleep together on almost a daily basis, and I have even caught you "petting" her on occasion! (You really just grab her fur, or set your hand on her back, but it's so cute anyway!)

It is just so amazing to have you here and finally have you home with us! Mommy and Daddy love you more and more EVERY day, and we hope that you know it and we show it enough!

Here is to lots more happy monthly pictures and updates!

I can't believe...

My little munchkin is ONE MONTH OLD today!! I will have a post up later on this week with her one month photos and an update on her growth and development, but I just had to post that my little girl is already 31 whole days old, and nothing could make me happier!

I love you Natalie, happy "monthday"!

Our baby showers

So I wanted to take some time and share some photos from our baby showers and give a BIG thank you to both of my best friends, Jess and Amber! THANK YOU GIRLS!!

First up is Amber's shower! It was on Wednesday July 27th, which was actually a week later than what we had orginally planned because of me going into labor and being in the hospital and then with her being in the NICU. The morning of the shower finally got here and we headed to Amber's house. When we got there we helped set up and waited for everyone to arrive. We had a really good time, and the food was delicious!! Here are some pictures:

Next I want to share a few photos from Jess's baby shower. We had so much fun at both showers and we thank EVERYONE who came out and blessed us and Natalie with the things that she needs!

The stroller and carrier (not pictured) that Jess bought for us:

And the awesome signature mat that Jess is framing for us:

Thank you Jess for an amazing shower! Here is a shot of Jess and I:

And thank you Amber for an awesome shower as well! Here is a shot of Amber and I:

And a last shot of Hubby and I:

Post coming soon: Finished nursery photos - as soon as we get her glider in and get her bookcase bought!

A pleasant surprise!

So, first I have to apologize for not being around to post every day like I had been, but we hadn't had internet at the house, and we just now got it back! I don't know that I will be posting every day, but I'm hoping that I'll be posting at least three times a week.

So, the last time I posted we were headed down to the hospital to speak to the nurses about giving her a bottle every time it was time for her to eat. We were prepared to check her out of the hospital that night, but luckily when we got there we didn't need to! She had taken every feeding that day by bottle, almost as if she knew that we were getting anxious about taking her home, and had decided that she was just going to do it! Like a lightbulb had just gone off inside her little brain that said "I can do this!" Talk about a pleasant surprise! So, the nurses told us then that as long as she kept it up and continued to do well, that we should be prepared to take her home by the following Wednesday. We were so excited! Only problem is we hadn't had our second baby shower yet, and we didn't have our carrier to take her home in, so we were freaking out just a little bit.

I'll get to the post about our baby showers here in a little while, but on Sunday just before the shower started, we decided to call and get an update on our little girl. We spoke to the nurse and they had exciting news for us - they wanted us to room in with her THAT night, and she would be going home the next day!! It was the best news we had ever heard!

After the shower, we got everything home and got the carrier in the car, and picked out her "going home" outfit, packed and headed out for the hospital! We got there and got settled and they got her ready to go to our room with us. It probably shouldn't have been as fun as it was, it probably should've been stressful, but it wasn't! It was so much fun!

The next morning we got her into her going home outfit, and did her carseat training and before we knew it we were on our way home!

We got home and my mom snapped this photo of us:

And here she is all wrapped up in her bed for the first time:

The last week that she has been home has been a crazy ride, but I am loving being a mommy! She is a little piglet and is taking all of her bottles really, really well. She is doing great with the pets, and the pets are doing great with her! Here is a shot of Marty's first meeting with Natalie:

He sleeps in front of her door, and checks on her constantly. He comes and gets us if he hears her crying. He is a great doggie brother!

She is really great with bathtime, she is really great with sleeping, she is just the greatest, best little girl! I'll finish this post with some pictures that I have snapped this past week. We are just loving being parents!

Baby shower post coming up next!
